Pharmacy
The
Health
Care
Center
for
the
Homeless
(HCCH)
operates
an
on-site
pharmacy
in
our
clinic,
the
Orange
Blossom
Family
Health
Center.
Our
pharmacy
serves
our
patients
seen
by
a
provider
within
the
Health
Center
and
provides
low
cost
medications
in
a
convenient
setting.
We
do
ask
for
low
co-pays
for
the
prescription
medications
provided
through
our
pharmacy,
but
we
do
not
allow
this
to
become
a
barrier
to
service.
While
many
retail
pharmacies
offer
low
co-
pays
for
medications,
the
Health
Center
recognizes
many
of
our
patients
lack
the
regular
transportation
that
would
make
travelling
elsewhere
a
cost
effective
choice.
HCCH
also
maintains
a
Patient
Assistance
Program
(PAP)
which
helps
our
patients
who
qualify
obtain
free
medications
through
the
major
pharmaceutical
companies.
Our
PAP
coordinator
currently
works
with
over
2000
patients
and
assists
them
in
obtaining
an
initial
three
month
supply
of
their
medications
and
helps
to
manage
their
refills
as
needed.
This
program
accessed
over
$2,000,000
in
free
prescription
medications
in
2009.
In
2010,
the
Patient
Assistance
Program
helped
our
patients
receive
over
$3,000,000
in
prescription
medications.
Without
this
program,
these
costs
would
have
been
absorbed
by
either
HCCH
or
the
patient
with
the
possibility
they
may
not
have
received
a
needed medication.
